HIDDEN DESIRES – EIGHTEEN

A phone was ringing.

The sound penetrated the fog in Evelyn’s mind and her eyelids opened slowly. Kemisola’s visit was the last straw that broke the Camel’s back. She couldn’t concentrate at work after she left. She felt suffocated, and guilthy and knew she had to leave her immediate environment. She was so ashamed of herself that she couldn’t talk to Titilola about her conversation with Kemisola.

On her way home, she branched at a network centre and changed her sim, then she left Lagos in her Car. She hated driving but how she drove to Abeokuta was only by God’s Grace. Lodging in a resort wasn’t an option. She couldn’t afford to  run into any known face. Solitude was the only option she craved. She needed a break from life, from all the familiar faces and from her ass of a husband.

She had slept with a man who wasn’t her husband and she was carrying a Child for the monster she married. Her life seemed perfect from the outside but she was dying inwardly. What should she do? Her nights weren’t as restful as she hoped it would be. After spending the whole day touring the ancient city of Olumo Rock, she spent the night , crying and craving for a love that couldn’t be hers.

Until he showed up at her hotel. What a beautiful and shocking surprise! He was like an answer to a silent prayer in her heart, even if it was a temporary one. She wasn’t sure why fate kept bringing them together but she was desperately happy to see the one person who made her soul sing with joy and for the first time in a long time, she had a restful night, in his arms.

She tried to lift her body but it was near impossible with Ayoola’s naked body nestled behind hers and his arm locked under her breasts with one hand cupping a breast.

A smile spread over her face , even as her nipple puckered and hardened under his unconscious touch and moisture flooded her honeypot. Dear God! What was this man doing to her? He was the only one who had this  effect over her.

And he was engaged to be married.

The memory of her conversation with Kemisola flooded into mind abruptly and the smile disappeared from her face. That conversation was the reason she left Lagos to come and hide here while she tried to sort the mess that was her life. Now, she had gone to sleep with another woman’s man while she was still married. Would she ever learn from her past mistakes? How did Ayoola become her personal weakness?

The phone rang again and she realised it was Ayoola’s phone, ringing. Maybe it was his fiancee. She tapped his arm to wake him up. He stirred, his hand flexing over her breast and his thumb rubbing over nipple. Evelyn covered her mouth to stifle a moan and rubbed her thighs together.

“Eve, baby…” His voice was deep, and husky with sleep as he whispered into her ear before biting it softly. She moaned , then tried to get away from him.

“Ayo, we need to talk…” Her voice was unconvincing, even to her own ears as he turned her over and settled between her laps. Raising her arms over her head with his hardness pushing softly at the tip of her dripping honeypot, he stared into her eyes with half-closed eyes and the rhythm of her breathing changed. He did nothing but to caressed her with eyes, hooded with desire and longing. “Let me touch you, please.” Was that her voice?

“You will… when I am done satisfying you.” He teased her with slow, tiny thrusts while his tongue caressed her lips, necks and took his time to worship her nipples until she exploded into tiny little pieces, her screams vibrating all over the room.

He slid in slowly. Her lips parted in a moan as she wrapped her thick thighs around him, and he groaned as her tightness enveloped him.

Their combined sounds of pleasure filled the room. He rode her with slow, measured strokes, constantly hitting her pleasure spot. Her hips lifted and met him halfway. Her hands clung to his buttocks and urged him on until they were both panting for breath. Her climax rocked her whole body, and he came fast and hard, then collapsed over her in a groan.

“Your phone has been ringing.” Her eyes were closed as she tried to get her breath under control.

“That must be Olayemi. He will have my head.” Chuckling to himself, he got out of bed and her eyes followed him. He was a beautiful man. Beautiful in and out. Could he be hers just be hers? She felt ashamed to even pray to God to forgive her sins and just let her be happy.

She sat up in bed, pulling the duvet over her body and watched him talk to his friend. The latter was obviously angry with Ayoola and he was trying to pacify him. Her eyes fell on the discarded plates of foods and the memory of how they had devoured the cold food at midnight made her want to smile. Everything about him filled her with happiness, warmth and laughter. Why was life so difficult? A heavy sigh escaped her.

“We have a meeting by 10 this morning and Olayemi is seriously mad at me. Let me take a quick bath. I will be right back.” Throwing his phone on the bed where it landed beside her, he dashed into the bathroom and came out in five minutes flat. Her scent was all over his body. He had obviously used her bathing wash and towel. He dropped the towel at the back of the single chair in the room and began to dress up.

“My scent is all over your body.” She tried not to stare at him but couldn’t help herself.

“It will remind me of you all day long and it will gladden my heart.” His grin was infectious as buckled his belt. “Are you alright, baby?” There was concern in Ayoola’s voice as he sat at the foot of the bed, tweaking her big toes. She moved it out of his reach as she took a deep breath.

“Are you engaged? Are you planning to get married soon?” The questions tumbled out before she could stop it.

It was his turn to sigh heavily. He had never lied to her to the best of her knowledge and even though she wanted the truth, she was scared to hear it. Her heart was heavy with dread.

“I don’t know If I am getting married, Eve. My mother wants me to but I will only marry this woman if you tell me there is no hope for us.” His troubled gaze looked into hers and her sigh was heavy. “She used to be my ex and came back into my life a few months back. She is carrying my baby. I can’t remember having sex with her but she says she is carrying my baby and I will never abandon any child who belongs to me.”

“Oh Ayo! What a mess!” The tears filled and ran down her cheek. “What are you going to do?”

“This is part of the reason I wanted to see you. Please stop crying. You are breaking my heart.” He crawled over and pulled her into his arms. Her tears turned into sobs that racked her body and it soaked his cotton t-shirt.

“I am pregnant too.” It was a whisper but his body went rigid and he held her away from his body to stare into her eyes. “I am carrying Kelvin’s baby. He had been drugging and raping me for sometimes now. I found out I am pregnant a few days back.”

“I should have killed the bastard the day he came to my bar.” Ayoola’s hands were in fists as he gritted out.

“He visited you?” She stared at him through bloodshot eyes. Now, she knew why he was punishing her. Kelvin knew about her affairs with Ayoola and she didn’t know how she felt about it.

“Yes, he did. It was part of the reason I stopped picking you at home. I don’t want to break your home.” His phone rang again and he sighed.

“That home is already broken.” It was said under her breath with a sigh of regret. Her home was already broken from the day she set her eyes on Ayoola. She and Kelvin were a disgrace to the institution called Marriage. How was she even different from him? She was a kettle calling the pot black. He was sleeping around and she had been doing the same. She needed to go to church and confess her sins. Maybe God would forgive her and let her be happy.  “ Kemisola visited me and warned me to stay away from you.”

“What?” He looked shocked and a little smile flitted over her lips. If she was in Kemisola’s shoes, she would have probably done the same. A man like Ayoola was worth keeping away from prying eyes. Just that if he wanted you, you wouldn’t even need to bother. “Where? How?”

“Well, she obviously put two and two together when she came across my pants in your sitting room. I couldn’t find it that morning and had to leave in a hurry.” Her body turned bright red in a deep blush and she lowered her eyes to her folded hands on top of the duvet.

“Oh God! I have been so careless. She saw the pants and it nearly ended in an argument between us.” A frown creased his forehead. “Was she snooping through my phone though? How did she know you are the one?”

“Well, we certainly have wonderful partners.” Their eyes met, held and they both burst into laughter. She laughed so hard tears ran down her face while his body shook with equal mirth. “When she dropped my pants, caked with semen in front of me, I nearly entered the ground.”

“Oh God! I am so sorry.” He tried to sound sober but they both erupted into another round of laughter. “Kemisola is a crazy woman. God! What did I get myself into?” He shook his head in self-pity.

“It is alright. I would have probably done the same. You are a gem.” The laughter drained from her eyes and was replaced with a wobbly smile.  “I can’t remember the last time I laughed this hard. I miss you.”

“Is that a goodbye, Evelyn? I don’t like the sound of that statement.” He glared at her and she shrugged, not trusting herself to speak. ‘If you will have me, I will accept you with the baby. I want you that much. I need you, Eve. Don’t throw my life into complete darkness.” There was anguish in his voice as he knelt beside her on the bed.

His phone rang again. Sighing, he rolled out of bed, “It is Olayemi. I need to leave now. I am almost sure I won’t meet you here by the time I come back.”

She shrugged but refused to answer.

“Do me a favour please.” His voice drew her attention and she looked at him. “Is it possible to do a DNA test for a foetus in his mother’s womb?”

“I think so. I have heard about it. Why do you ask?”

“Please run a DNA test for your baby as soon as you can. The last time we made love, I didn’t use any protection throughout. It wasn’t intentional. I wasn’t in the right frame of mind when you came. Promise me you will let me know the result as soon as possible.” His voice was subdued, guilty and she stared at him in horror.

Could her baby belong to Ayoola? How worse could this get? If it did, how would she explain carrying another man’s baby when she was married to another one?
